This documentary explored the thesis that Elgar wrote the concerto in memory of a New Zealand soldier killed in WW1, the son of Elgar’s first love. Due to popular demand, we have included the concert with the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra in its entirety.
Beautifully shot and composed, and performed by one of the world’s most accomplished cellists Lynn Harrell, the live concert captures the depth and emotion of a musical classic.
The concert was performed at the Michael Fowler Centre in Wellington, New Zealand, on the 8th August 2003.
