"Lost in Translation” follows comedian Mike King as he charts the bittersweet but often dramatic journey of the nine separate Treaty of Waitangi sheets as they traveled around New Zealand in 1840 collecting signatures.

King discovers who signed and who didn’t during this iconic period in New Zealand history. He talks to descendants - Maori and Pakeha -who shed new light on what was really going on in 1840.

Understanding the conflicting attitudes to the Treaty became a personal journey for the comedian. King has recently recovered from a stroke that almost killed him, and “Lost in Translation” became a way to re-connect with his Maori heritage.
